May 10-14

This week we will be preparing for WESTEST, which is next week.  We have practice tests to prepare, along with other activities.  This is the first time these students have had to take the test, so I am going over things like filling in answer bubbles and erasing completely.  I am also getting them ready to sit in their seats without getting up, talking, or asking for help for about 20-30 minutes at a time.  With this active group, it needs to be practiced:)  I feel confident about my class and believe their scores will be good overall.  Please encourage your child at home to try their best.  If they do not know an answer it is better to guess than to leave it blank.  I am not allowed to help them at all.  If they do not know a word, then it is best to sound it out or go on reading.  As I said before, I think our class will do fine, but they need all the encouragement we can give.
